What is Wireless Protection?

A PRIMER ON ELECTROSMOG

SMOG is a combination of smoke and fog, representing air pollution from exhaust fumes from automobiles & industries. In recent times, the word Electromagnetic smog is getting heard a lot more. What exactly is it, and why is this issue becoming more and more important for each of us? The term electromagnetic smog refers to all artificially generated electromagnetic fields in the environment and the resulting permanent exposure of people and the environment to them. Electromagnetic smog is classified as non-ionizing radiation unlike ionizing radiation such as radioactivity. Non-Ionizing radiation do not produce the energy required to remove electrons from atoms or molecules. It has two main sub-divisions

- Low-frequency electric and magnetic fields

- High-frequency electromagnetic fields

Low-frequency electric and magnetic fields are generated when electric energy is generated, transported or applied, in electric appliances and alternating current circuits. High-frequency electromagnetic fields are generated by wireless transmission technology products & devices. A good example of a daily application in our life is the kitchen microwave. It uses high-frequency electromagnetic field for heating food.

Electromagnetic fields can be produced artificially, but also occur naturally in the environment. For static and low-frequency fields, the electrical and magnetic components are considered separately. The two components get coupled in high-frequency fields, so speak of it as electromagnetic fields. The website of the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection gives a good overview of the current state of science concerning electromagnetic fields, their impact on humans and recommended protective measures.

HOW DOES ELECTROMAGNETIC SMOG GROW?

Due to the rapidly advancing digitalization and expansion of electricity & wireless networks, electromagnetic smog is continually increasing in private households, schools, at work and on the road. In particular, the artificially generated low-frequency and high-frequency fields are increasing due to the development of new technologies and their distribution. Cordless DECT phones and smartphones have long become part of everyday life. Bluetooth and ultrawideband (UWB) are applications with high- frequency electromagnetic radiation, with the help of which various (mobile) devices for telecommunication and data processing can be interconnected wirelessly. Many children and teenagers use smartphones, tablets and laptops all day, and the latest devices are at the top of their wish lists. In order to ensure seamless accessibility, more and more mobile phone towers are being built. According to IHS Markit’s estimate, there are 17.6 billion wireless devices - smartphones, tablets, computers and IoT devices. And the numbers are only growing… It’s expected to be 30.7 billion in 2020.

SMART home solutions for private households and businesses also contribute to an increase in electromagnetic smog. Networked and remotely controllable devices are designed to provide more security and efficient use of energy, thereby improving the quality of homes and life in general. However, this convenience leads to further increase of electromagnetic radiation. The trend of increase in electromagnetic smog is even rising in cars as well. In addition to radiation from Bluetooth, GPS, seat heating and the mobile data of smartphones, the future use of driverless cars using Satellite Tracking Systems will further contribute to the smog.

WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF ELECTROMAGNETIC SMOG?

The ‘Competence Initiative for the Protection of Man, Environment and Democracy’ (Kompetenzinitiative zum Schutz von Mensch, Umwelt und Demokratie e.V.), a non-profit association of scientists and physicians deals with the effects of mobile and wireless communication. A note from the international doctors in 2012 on the consequences of Electromagnetic SMOG: ‘Our body consists largely of water and is controlled by bioelectrical impulses. Electromagnetic radiation can interfere with these natural processes. These rays penetrate into the body and prevent optimal cell supply. If we are exposed to artificial electromagnetic fields (called electromagnetic smog or electrosmog), these can have a fundamental impact on biological processes in our body with the following effects:

- Lack of concentration and sleep problems

- Disturbance in the balance of our vegetative nervous system

- Weakening of the immune system

- Metabolic disorders due to hyperacidity and clogging

- Mental strain and stress

WHAT MEASURES ARE BEING IMPLEMENTED BY GOVERNMENTS TO PROTECT HUMANS?

Measures to protect the population from health hazards due to electric and magnetic fields from low- frequency and DC systems are set in the 26th Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Emissions Control Act (26th BImSchV) limiting emission values. In order to take account of the scientific uncertainties regarding the health effects of these fields, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection recommends supplementary precautionary measures.

The assumption that WiFi radiation, smartphone radiation and the rays of other artificially generated fields are harmless is still widespread, since the ‘legal limiting emission values’ are usually observed. The SAR value (specific absorption rate) is used as the basis for defining limiting emission values ​​in mobile communications area. It is a measure for the absorption of electromagnetic fields in a body or material. The absorption of electromagnetic energy always results in heating of a body. Consequently, the limiting emission values ​​for smartphones are only based on the thermal effect of electromagnetic radiation. Other influences of radiation, such as the possible damage to a cell genome or similar matters, are not considered.

Many countries have gone ahead to implement strict laws. A high court in India has banned mobile phone masts on schools and hospitals due to health risks. Israel has banned WiFi in kindergartens and preschools and restricts its usage in schools. The bottom line is that every citizen has to obtain information about this himself or herself and acquire the necessary protection in the light of the present findings.

What is Smartphone Radiation?

Smartphone has become ubiquitous in our life today. We always carry it with us to make phone calls, surf the Internet, communicate with friends, family & office colleagues using WhatsApp, exchange photos using Instagram and post our comments on Facebook & Twitter. High-performance cellular networks are needed to meet these demands. But how is it possible that one can make phone calls to anyone in the world and log on to the Internet from almost anywhere?

Smartphones use high-frequency electromagnetic radio waves to transmit data and voice. They enable the transmission of information from your phone to the nearest phone mast (base station). Speech and data are digitalized and converted into radio waves. These radio waves that are produced when one makes a call with a smartphone or send a message with a tablet are commonly known as smartphone radiation.

WHAT FREQUENCIES DO SMARTPHONES AND CELLULAR NETWORKS OPERATE?

Most smartphones transmit using GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication), UTMS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) and LTE-Standard (Long Term Evolution) standard. GSM is known as the mobile communications standard of the 2nd generation (2G), UMTS as the 3rd generation and LTE as the 4th generation. The difference is primarily in the transmission speeds, increasing from generation to generation.

To ensure comprehensive coverage of networks, all mobile phone masts and base stations are required to be equipped with GSM as well as UMTS and LTE technology equipment. Voice and data are transmitted from phones to the surrounding base stations, which route the signals to the recipient. The three cellular networks use the following frequency ranges:

- GSM: 900 and 1,800 MHz

- UMTS: 1,900–2,170 MHz

- LTE: 800 and 2,600 MHz

The expansion of cellular networks to higher frequency bands is planned. LTE’s successor 5G is already in the pipeline and will reach frequencies close to 5 GHz range in the near future. Due to the exponential rise of smartphone & IOT devices with content rich applications, there is ever increasing demand for bandwidth, requiring the need for additional base stations. The number of base stations required depends on the demand for voice & data bandwidth, which means urban areas will have more stations than sparsely populated areas.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE HEALTH HAZARDS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION AND WHAT MEASURES ARE BEING IMPLEMENTED BY GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS TO PROTECT HUMANS?

The SAR value (specific absorption rate) is used as the basis for defining limiting emission values. It is a measure for the absorption of electromagnetic fields in a body or material. The absorption of electromagnetic energy always results in the heating of a body. Consequently, the limiting emission values ​​for smartphones are only based on the thermal effect of electromagnetic radiation. Other influences of radiation, such as the possible damage to a cell genome or similar matters, are not considered. There are currently no long-term studies concerning these effects.

The maximum levels recommended for the protection of health are:

- 8 Watts per kilogram (W/kg) averaged over the whole body

- 2 Watts per kilogram (W/kg) locally averaged over body parts such as the head

Quote from the recommendation of the BfS for calling with your smartphone: “According to the current state of scientific knowledge, internationally established maximum levels are sufficient to protect us against proven health risks. However, uncertainties still exist in the risk assessment, which could not completely be eliminated by the German Mobile Telecommunication Research Program. Such measures especially concern:

- Possible health risks of long-term exposure to high-frequency electromagnetic fields due to calling using smartphones in adults (intensive smartphone use for more than 10 years)

- The question whether the use of smartphones by children could affect their health For these reasons, BfS considers preventive health care (precautionary measures) still to be necessary: The exposure to electromagnetic fields should be as low as possible.”

WHAT PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES CAN BE TAKEN?

The advent of Smartphones has made the life of humans easy but this technology has to be used responsibly. Each person should take safety measures as appropriate. A few and definitely not a comprehensive list of precautionary measures, is enumerated below

  1. For a start, buy smartphone with low SAR value. A list of the SAR values of mobile devices from different manufacturers is published on the BfS website.
  2. If possible, using a landline to make a phone call instead of a mobile phone.
  3. Phone calls with a mobile phone should be as short as possible and ideally with a headset, so the smartphone radiation is not close to the head.
  4. In case of bad reception due to poor signal strength, one should preferably not make any calls, because the smartphone automatically works at a higher power to compensate for the poor signal strength. Some individual smartphone manufacturers even explicitly state in the operating instructions of their devices that a headset or the loudspeaker should be used when calling, to ensure sufficient distance from your ear and thus keep the effects of smartphone radiation to minimum.

What is WIFI Radiation ?

WLAN/WIFI EXPLAINED

A group of computers “talk” to or communicate with each other when they are part of a network. When they are connected without a cable or wire, then they are said to be in a “Wireless Local Area Network” or WLAN. Smartphones, tablet devices and laptops are connected to each other wirelessly via electromagnetic waves, popularly called Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is the name of a popular wireless networking technology that uses radio waves to provide wireless high-speed Internet and network connections. Today, Wi-Fi access is available everywhere – office, hotels, bars, restaurants, airports, libraries and in some countries, all across the nation. At home, video game consoles, smart TVs, digital audio players and modern printers are all Wi-Fi enabled. WiFi has become indispensable.

Wi-Fi compatible devices can connect to the Internet via a WLAN and a wireless access point (WAP). Such an access point (or hotspot) has a range of about 20 meters indoors and a greater range outdoors. Hotspot coverage can be as small as a single room with walls that block radio waves, or as large as many square kilometres achieved by using multiple overlapping access points.

OPERATING FREQUENCIES OF WIFI USE AND RADIATION OCCURANCE

The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (www.bfs.de) contains the following information:

“WiFi and Bluetooth use the 2.4 GHz ISM “Industrial, Scientific and Medical”band. In addition, the frequency ranges from 5.150 to 5.350 and 5.470 to 5.725 GHz have been released. The maximum permitted radiated power depends on the frequency range:

- 100 mW in the 2.4 GHz ISM band,

- 200 mW 5.15 to 5.35 GHz (use is only permitted within enclosed spaces such as buildings and aircraft)

- 1000 mW 5.470 to 5.725 GHz. Frequencies above 5.25 GHz may be used only with automatic power control; otherwise a 50% lower maximum level applies.

The maximum radiated power levels are based on an imaginary standard antenna that radiates in all directions. Directed radiating antennas may be used if approved radiation powers are respected.”

WiFi uses pulsed high-frequency signals. This means that a signal is not continuous, but instead is turned on and off in a certain rhythm. This is colloquially referred to as WiFi radiation. Small data packets are usually transmitted via the Wireless Access Point (WAP) or by a router in the private sector to all stations in the reception range.

One can decide when to use a Wi-Fi enables device. However, one cannot control the use of Wi-Fi devices in surrounding areas. The radiation from such devices will enter adjacent apartments due to their coverage. How big is the impact by these wireless devices can be verified when one takes a look at the long list of available wireless networks when does a network search on their phone or laptop.

According to the information leaflet “Speech and Data Transmission via Radio Waves: Bluetooth and Wi- Fi” of the German Federal Office for Radiation Protection, the SAR levels of wireless devices remain “below the specified threshold values when used at a distance from the body. Values ​​in the order of the maximum recommended value can only occur in unfavorable situations (e.g., laptop on lap and transmitter directly above thigh).”

WHAT PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES SHOULD BE TAKEN?

The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection recommend to comply with the minimum distances specified by the manufacturer of the wireless devices. In addition, it recommends minimizing personal radiation exposure as much as possible “to keep possible, but previously unrecognized health to a minimum.” Specifically, in the case of Wi-Fi, it recommends using cable connections to the greatest extent possible and refraining from using wireless networks. It also recommends not to install wireless access points in the immediate vicinity of persons (e.g., at work) and to set a range limit.

How Vivobase Protects?

THE VIVOBASE MODE OF OPERATION

Our body consists largely of water and is controlled by bioelectrical impulses. Electromagnetic smog can disturb these natural processes due to the penetration of rays into the body. The electromagnetic environment influences the space of the H2O molecules. Electrosmog disturbs the transport of H2O molecules through the cell membrane, with all known health consequences.

Without electromagnetic radiation
the gate opens for the correctly polarized molecule.
With electromagnetic radiation the molecule has the wrong polarity, and consequently the gate remains closed. The molecule is rejected due to incorrect spatial position.

Result: By using VIVOBASE, the influence of electromagnetic radiation is largely neutralized and the water molecule retains its natural shape (Fig. 1 and Fig.) Without VIVOBASE, the natural structure of the water molecule is destroyed (Figure 3). VIVOBASE preserves the natural structure of the water molecule.

Antenna effect of our body

From a natural perspective we are surrounded by „magnetic“ but mostly of „electro static“ fields. Together they are essential for our life here at earth. Our heart and brain are adjusted and controlled by internal bioelectric impulses. Migrating birds and other animals are using those fields for the purpose of orientation, communication and recognition of environmental conditions.

Technical innovations and as a result expansion of the various communication networks (radar, mobile, etc.) ended up into an explosively growth of artificially created electromagnetical radiation (Electrosmog). Every single living being and natural environment gets stressed by this exposure. Tendency rapidly increasing.

Electrosmog can have a fundamental impact to the biologic processes in our body.

Additional as a complicating fact is that our body acts as an antenna. The body is able to receive and strenghten the electromagnetical radiation. „Do you know the effect when you are trying to find a solid radion station in your portable radio but you are recognizing only a permanent noise/chatter?“ But the signal gets only stronger when you hold the antenna of the portable radio. This effect is occuring because you are strenghten with your contact/body the radio frequencies.

Below picture (1) is showing the body antenna effect as described. The measurement set up is capturing various frequencies types (0-21000 Hz) over a period of time. The result is graphical highlighted (with and without direct contact of the test person).

The measurement results are captured through a „DAT-Recorder“ (Digital Audio Tape) through the audio channel. The captured audio data is combined into a file and formated through a spectral analysis and as a result pictured above (Pic 1).

Impact of the VIVOBASE MOBILE against the body antenna effect

The measurement set up below (Pic 2) is clearly showing the impact of the VIVOBASE MOBILE device against the antenna effect. There is a decreasing tendency after a short time frame of the antenna effect as soon after VIVOBASE MOBILE device is switched on.

The influence of the electromagnetical radiation gets measured directly at the test person after 15 seconds. The increase of the spectral lines is showing a clear incremental growth of the radiation impact because of the body antenna effect. After 30 seconds the VIVOBASE MOBILE device gets switched on. The spectral lines trend gets immediate decreasing tendency although the measurement is only performed for a period of 106 seconds.

The repeating measurement of the test person after a period of 48H with a permanent usage (switched on) of the VIVOBASE MOBILE device is shown below (Pic 3). The result is showing that the body antenna effect is clearly decreasing and proves the „protection of the body“ against radiation.
